Stony River 2 Airport (SRV)

Stony River 2 Airport (SRV), also known as Stony River Airport, is a small state-owned public-use airport serving the village of Stony River in the Bethel Census Area of western Alaska. The airport has been in operation since 1964 and provides an essential year-round air link for a remote Upper Kuskokwim River community located off the Alaska road system. Situated less than a mile north of the village centre, the airport consists of a single gravel and dirt runway served by regional air carriers and charter operators, including Ryan Air. There is no control tower or passenger terminal, so scheduled flights and air taxi services connect Stony River with regional hubs such as Aniak, Sleetmute and Bethel. Because Stony River has no road connection to Alaska's highway network, the airport is the community's primary link for passengers, mail and essential cargo. In summer, barges and river boats move fuel and freight along the Kuskokwim River, while winter travel may rely on snow machines and air service. Passenger facilities are minimal, and travelers should plan for basic conditions at this remote airport. Visitors typically continue by air or pre-arranged local transport to nearby lodges, river access points and backcountry destinations in the surrounding region.
