About Stinson Municipal Airport
Stinson Municipal Airport is a city-owned general aviation airport serving San Antonio and Bexar County in South Texas. Established in 1915 as the Stinson School of Flying, it is one of the oldest continuously operating airports in the United States and functions as a general aviation reliever airport for San Antonio International Airport.
Located about six miles south of downtown San Antonio along the San Antonio River, the airport sits near the Mission Reach and the city's UNESCO World Heritage Site mission district. It has two runways, a single two-story terminal building originally constructed in 1936 and expanded in 2008, and a full-service fixed-base operator.
Stinson primarily serves private, charter, corporate and flight training traffic rather than scheduled airline service. Facilities include aircraft maintenance and repair, flight schools, helicopter operations, fuel services, hangars and transient parking.
The airport is reached by road from central San Antonio, with Mission Road and nearby highways connecting travelers to downtown, the River Walk and surrounding areas. Its location makes it a convenient entry point for general aviation visitors exploring San Antonio and South Texas.
