About Stevens Village Airport

Stevens Village Airport is a state-owned, public-use airfield serving Stevens Village, a small Athabascan community on the north bank of the Yukon River in Interior Alaska. The airport was activated in July 1953 and remains an essential air link for a community with no road connection to the rest of Alaska.

Located about one mile north-northeast of the village, the airport has a single gravel runway designated 5/23 measuring 4,000 by 75 feet. It is used mainly by small aircraft, air taxis and charter flights connecting Stevens Village with Fairbanks and other Interior Alaska communities.

Because the village has no outside road access, the airport is the primary year-round gateway. Travelers reach the community by small plane, by boat on the Yukon River during the open-water season, or by snowmachine or dog sled over winter trails.

Passenger facilities are limited to basic rural airstrip infrastructure, so visitors should confirm flight and local transport arrangements in advance. The airport provides a straightforward, functional arrival and departure point for residents, visitors and essential services in the Yukon-Koyukuk region.
