St Mary's Airport is the only commercial airport serving the Isles of Scilly, a small archipelago off the southwest coast of Cornwall. It sits on St Mary's, the largest island, about 2 km (1.2 miles) east of Hugh Town, the main settlement. The airport is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall and operated by the Council of the Isles of Scilly.
The airport first opened in August 1939 after being converted from High Cross Farm. Today it uses a single compact, accessible terminal at ground level, designed around the small scale of traffic the islands receive.
Scheduled Skybus fixed-wing services link the airport with Land's End, Newquay and Exeter, while Penzance Helicopters operates flights between Penzance Heliport and St Mary's. From the terminal, Hugh Town is a short taxi ride or walk away, and the quay offers onward boat connections to Tresco, Bryher, St Martin's and St Agnes.
