St. Clair County Airport (PLR), also known as M.S. Hugghins Field, serves Pell City and St. Clair County in north-central Alabama. The airport opened in 1966 after land was purchased from Marlin Hugghins and the runway, taxiway, grounds and facilities were completed the same year.
The airport is a general aviation facility and has been designated by the FAA as a reliever airport for Birmingham. It is located about 2.5 nautical miles southeast of Pell City city center and around 32 miles from downtown Birmingham, with a 5,001-foot by 80-foot asphalt runway served by RNAV GPS approaches.
Road access to the airport is available via Airport Road and Mays Bend Road. Travelers can arrange rental cars or a courtesy car with advance notice, or book private transfers and chauffeur services for connections to Pell City, Birmingham and surrounding areas.
