Located about 5 miles (8 km) south of downtown Springfield, the airport is a convenient gateway to southwestern Ohio, roughly 20 miles east of Dayton and within reach of Columbus to the northeast. Its 7,500-square-foot terminal building opened in 1972 and provides a waiting lounge, conference space, and fixed base operator services for pilots and passengers.

The airport has two runways, including the 9,010-foot Runway 6/24 and the 5,498-foot Runway 15/33, along with FBO facilities offering fuel, flight training, and aircraft maintenance. It also supports military and unmanned aircraft systems operations alongside general aviation.

Springfield-Beckley is primarily a general aviation facility and does not offer scheduled commercial airline service. Travelers generally reach it by private car, taxi, or pre-arranged transfer, then continue by road to Springfield, Dayton, Yellow Springs, and other destinations in the region.
