Spencer Municipal Airport, also known as Northwest Iowa Regional Airport, is a public airport serving Spencer and Clay County in northwest Iowa. Located about 3 miles (5 km) northwest of downtown Spencer, it functions as the area's primary general aviation gateway.
Opened in 1942, the facility originally operated as Northwest Iowa Regional Airport and was used for contract glider pilot training for the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. Today it is owned by the City of Spencer and supports private, business, and charter aviation rather than scheduled commercial airline service.
The airport has two paved runways, including the 6,001-foot Runway 12/30 and the 5,100-foot Runway 18/36. It serves Spencer and the surrounding Iowa Great Lakes region, with Okoboji, Arnolds Park, and Spirit Lake among the nearby recreational and visitor destinations.
