About Southeast Colorado Regional Airport
Southeast Colorado Regional Airport is a publicly owned general aviation airport serving Lamar and southeastern Colorado. Owned by the City of Lamar, it supports private, charter, corporate, agricultural, and emergency medical flights across a seven-county service area that includes Prowers, Baca, Bent, Cheyenne, Kiowa, Crowley, and Otero counties.
The airport opened in the early 1940s and formerly operated as Lamar Municipal Airport. Scheduled airline service began around 1957 and continued through the late 1970s, and today the airport functions as a general aviation facility. It has two runways, including a 6,304-foot concrete runway and a 5,001-foot asphalt runway, along with taxiways, an aircraft apron, hangars, tie-down space, an automated weather system, and a fuel farm.
Located about three to four miles southwest of Lamar, the airport is a short drive from the city centre. Ground transportation options include the airport courtesy car, rental vehicles, and private transfers, making it straightforward to reach Lamar and nearby communities.
Passengers and pilots have access to a terminal lounge, pilots' lounge, restrooms, internet access, and fuel services. The airport also hosts community aviation events and serves as a practical gateway for visitors traveling to the Arkansas Valley and the High Plains of southeastern Colorado.
