About Southampton Airport
Southampton Airport is a compact international airport serving the city of Southampton, the wider Hampshire region and the south coast of England. Located in the Borough of Eastleigh, it provides domestic and European connections for leisure, business and cruise travellers.
Aviation activity at the site dates back to 1910, and the airfield later became a municipal airport before being developed into the modern gateway it is today. The current passenger terminal opened in December 1994, and the airport is owned and operated by AGS Airports.
The airport is located about 6.5 km north-northeast of Southampton city centre and is directly served by Southampton Airport Parkway railway station, which sits a short walk from the terminal. Trains connect to the city centre in around 7 minutes, with direct services to London Waterloo and Winchester.
The single terminal brings check-in, arrivals, security and the departure lounge together in one building, with a lift to the first-floor gates and Spitfire Lounge. Road access via the A335 and proximity to the M3 and M27 motorways make the airport convenient for onward travel to Winchester, Portsmouth, Bournemouth and the New Forest.
