About Solomon State Field
Solomon State Field is a small private-use airstrip serving the community of Solomon on the Seward Peninsula in western Alaska. Opened in 1958, the field provides a basic landing area for general aviation and local access flights near the Norton Sound coast.
The airfield lies roughly 30 miles east of Nome, the nearest regional center, and is reached by the Nome-Council Road. It has a single dirt and gravel runway and no commercial passenger terminal, so it is used mainly by private pilots and locally arranged flights.
Because the field is private use, landing permission is required, and there are no fuel or maintenance services on site. Travelers typically connect through Nome Airport and continue by road, private transfer, or chartered vehicle to Solomon and the surrounding area.
