About Söderhamn Airport
Söderhamn Airport is a former military and regional civil airfield located about 4 km south of central Söderhamn in Sweden's Hälsingland region. It was developed as the base for Hälsinge Air Wing F 15, with construction beginning in 1943 and the airfield completed in 1948.
Between 1983 and December 2000, a civil passenger terminal on the western side of the airport served the Söderhamn–Stockholm Arlanda route. Since 2000 the airfield has been owned by Söderhamn Municipality, and it no longer has regular scheduled passenger traffic. The airport formally closed in November 2011 but remains available for flights with prior permission required (PPR).
Its main runway is 2,524 m long and equipped for instrument landings, making it one of Sweden's longer runways despite the limited commercial role today. The airport is mainly used for private, general and permitted aviation activity, and the nearby town provides onward travel by road.
