About Skwentna Airport
Skwentna Airport is a small, state-owned public-use airport serving the remote community of Skwentna in Alaska's Matanuska-Susitna Borough. Because the area has no road connection to the state highway system, the airport is the main year-round gateway for residents, lodge guests, and backcountry visitors.
Opened in 1949, the airport operates a single gravel runway, 10/28, measuring 3,400 by 75 feet, with medium-intensity edge lighting and no control tower. It primarily handles general aviation, private aircraft, and air taxi traffic rather than scheduled airline service.
The airport sits about one mile northeast of the village of Skwentna and roughly 70 miles northwest of Anchorage. It provides access to fly-in fishing lodges, remote cabins, and the Iditarod Trail, which passes through Skwentna; seasonal travel also continues by boat on the Yentna and Skwentna rivers or by snow machine in winter.
On-site facilities are minimal, with no passenger terminal, and fuel is available from the nearby Skwentna Roadhouse. Travelers should confirm all flight and onward transport arrangements directly with their air operator or local contacts before arrival.

Terminal Overview

Terminals
Skwentna Airport does not have a passenger terminal building. It operates as a small, unattended general-aviation airstrip with a single gravel runway, and passengers use the open apron area next to the runway.
