About Skardu International Airport
Skardu International Airport is the main airport serving Skardu and the surrounding Gilgit-Baltistan region of northern Pakistan. Originally a domestic airport, it was upgraded for international operations and began handling international flights in December 2021.
The airport is located on the outskirts of Skardu, about 9 km from the city centre. It provides regular domestic connections to cities such as Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi, with airlines including PIA and Airblue serving the airport. International services to Dubai have also been introduced.
The airport has a single passenger terminal with departure and arrival lounges, check-in facilities and basic passenger services. An expansion programme is increasing terminal space, check-in counters and parking capacity to accommodate growing tourist traffic.
As a gateway to the Karakoram region, the airport serves travelers heading to Shigar, Khaplu, Deosai National Park and other mountain destinations. Taxis and private transfers connect the airport with Skardu city centre and surrounding areas.
