About Sitka Rocky Gutierrez Airport
Sitka Rocky Gutierrez Airport is the main public-use airport serving Sitka, a city and borough on Baranof Island in Southeast Alaska. Opened in 1969, the state-owned airport is named after former Sitka mayor Rocky Gutierrez and provides scheduled air service for residents and visitors across the region.
The airport sits west of Sitka's central business district on Japonski Island, connected to the city by bridge. It features a single passenger terminal with a jetway and a single runway built on a paved causeway. Alaska Airlines operates year-round service, with seasonal Delta Connection flights operated by SkyWest Airlines.
Located about one mile from downtown Sitka, the airport is within easy reach of hotels, the Sitka Sound Cruise Terminal, and local attractions. Taxis, hotel shuttles, and rental cars connect the terminal to the rest of the community.
Although compact, the terminal provides essential passenger services, including check-in and baggage areas, security screening, seating, a small food outlet, and free Wi-Fi, making it a practical gateway for travel to and from the Sitka area.
