Siglufjörður Airport (SIJ)

Siglufjörður Airport is a small public airfield serving Siglufjörður, a fishing town on the northern coast of the Tröllaskagi peninsula in Iceland. It functions primarily as a general aviation and charter facility rather than a scheduled airline hub, supporting private flights, light aircraft and smaller turboprop operations.

The airport has a single asphalt runway designated 07/25, about 1,084 metres long, and sits roughly 2 kilometres south of the town centre at an elevation of about 3 metres. There is no scheduled commercial service, so most travellers reach the region through Akureyri Airport (AEY) or Keflavik International Airport (KEF) and continue by road.

The airfield is reached from Siglufjörður along the local road network, and the Héðinsfjarðargöng tunnel links the town with Ólafsfjörður and the route toward Akureyri, about 77 kilometres to the southeast. Ground transport between the airfield and the town centre typically takes only a few minutes.

Because it is compact and close to town, Siglufjörður Airport offers a practical entry point for private and chartered travel to northern Iceland, including access to the surrounding fjords, ski areas and coastal communities.
