About Sibu Airport
Sibu Airport is the main airport serving Sibu and the central region of Sarawak. The current airport opened in 1994, replacing the earlier Teku airfield, and its terminal was later expanded and upgraded, with the new terminal beginning operations in 2012.
Located about 23 km from the city centre, the airport has a single passenger terminal handling domestic flights that connect Sibu with Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Miri, Bintulu and Kota Kinabalu. It serves both leisure and business travelers and is a key regional link for central Sarawak, with services operated by AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines and regional carriers.
Travelers can reach the airport by taxi, e-hailing services and car rental, while stage buses stop near the airport road for connections to Sibu town.
Inside the terminal, passengers can use check-in counters, baggage reclaim, cafés, a restaurant, shops, free Wi-Fi, ATMs, prayer rooms and parking facilities, making it a convenient regional gateway for visitors to central Sarawak.
