Taiping (Tekah) Airport (TPG)

Taiping (Tekah) Airport is a small aerodrome in Tekah, about 3 km from Taiping town centre in Perak, Malaysia. Built in 1929, it is recorded as the first airfield in Perak and one of the oldest airstrips in Peninsular Malaysia, and Amelia Earhart made a refuelling stopover there in 1937. The airport now serves mainly private and general aviation traffic and has no scheduled commercial passenger flights. It operates with a single runway, 18/36, and a small terminal building, reflecting its role as a local aerodrome rather than a major passenger hub. Road connections link the airport with central Taiping and the surrounding Larut, Matang and Selama district. Travelers can continue by taxi, private transfer or rental car, while Ipoh and Penang provide the nearest airports with regular commercial services. Although passenger facilities are limited, the airport remains part of Taiping's aviation heritage and offers a convenient access point for private flights and local operations near the town.
