Sher-Wood Airport (PWD)

Sher-Wood Airport is a public-use general aviation airport serving Plentywood and Sheridan County in northeastern Montana. It supports private, business, agricultural and emergency aviation needs in a rural area where air access is an important connection for residents and services.

The airport opened in November 1958 and is owned jointly by the City of Plentywood and Sheridan County. It has an asphalt primary runway, Runway 12/30, measuring 3,900 by 75 feet, and a secondary turf runway, Runway 8/26, measuring 2,951 by 60 feet. A parallel taxiway, medium-intensity runway lighting, PAPI approach guidance and a small pilot house support day-to-day operations.

Located about one mile northeast of central Plentywood, the airport is quick to reach by road. It has no scheduled airline service, so most travelers arrive by private aircraft or continue onward by rental car, taxi, private transfer or locally arranged ground transportation.

Passenger facilities are modest and geared to general aviation: the pilot house offers seating, a restroom, a telephone and courtesy car access, while self-serve 100LL fuel, tie-downs and hangars are available on the field.
