Shaktoolik Airport is a small public-use airport serving Shaktoolik, a remote Alaska Native village on the eastern shore of Norton Sound. Owned by the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, it provides the community's main air link for passengers, freight and mail, with scheduled air taxi and charter flights connecting the village to regional hubs such as Nome and Unalakleet.
Located about one mile northwest of the village, the airport has a single gravel runway of 4,001 by 75 feet, along with a basic apron and passenger shelter. Because Shaktoolik is not connected to Alaska's road system, aviation is an essential year-round connection, supporting travel, cargo and medevac operations.
The airport is unattended and has no control tower. Pilots use a common traffic advisory frequency and rely on an automated weather station, while passenger services remain minimal and simple.
Ground transportation in the village is limited and usually arranged in advance through local contacts or accommodation providers. Most onward travel continues by small aircraft to Nome, Unalakleet or other Norton Sound and Bering Strait communities.
