About Senai International Airport
Senai International Airport is the main international airport serving Johor Bahru and the southern region of Peninsular Malaysia. Opened in 1974, it was formerly known as Sultan Ismail International Airport and is operated by Senai Airport Terminal Services.
Located in Senai, Kulai District, around 30 km northwest of central Johor Bahru, the airport handles domestic and regional international flights. AirAsia operates a base at JHB, while Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air Malaysia and Firefly also serve the airport alongside occasional charter and seasonal services.
The airport operates from a single passenger terminal, with arrivals on the ground floor and departures on the first floor, plus a separate business aviation terminal for private jets. A recent departure hall extension has increased capacity, and onward travel is available by taxi, e-hailing, the Causeway Link AA1 bus to JB Sentral and rental cars.
For many travellers, Senai also functions as a practical alternative gateway to Singapore, reached via the Woodlands Causeway or Tuas Second Link. Passenger facilities include a Plaza Premium Lounge, dining outlets, shops, free Wi-Fi, currency exchange and car rental desks.
