About Seal Bay Seaplane Base
Seal Bay Seaplane Base is a small public seaplane base serving Seal Bay, a remote settlement on Afognak Island in Alaska's Kodiak Island Borough. It provides a key air link for visitors travelling to wilderness lodges, sport fishing, bear viewing and outdoor recreation across the Kodiak archipelago.
Because the base is surrounded by water and forest with no road connection, floatplane is the main way to reach Seal Bay. Scheduled and chartered floatplane services connect the base with Kodiak and other regional points, with typical flights from Kodiak taking about 45 minutes.
The facility has a simple shoreline setup rather than a conventional terminal. Passengers board directly from the dock and baggage is handled at the water's edge, making the base practical for small groups and lodge-bound travellers rather than large-scale scheduled operations.
Terminal Overview
Terminals
