About Scribner State Airport
Scribner State Airport is a public general aviation airfield located about three miles southeast of Scribner in Dodge County, Nebraska. It serves eastern Nebraska's private, agricultural and pilot-training aviation needs rather than scheduled commercial airline traffic.
The field was built in 1942 as Scribner Army Airfield, a United States Army Air Forces training base, and officially opened on December 9, 1942. It closed as a military installation on December 31, 1945, and the State of Nebraska acquired the property in 1946, converting it to civil aviation use.
Today the airport covers roughly 789 acres and operates two concrete runways, 17/35 and 12/30, without a control tower. It is owned and managed by the Nebraska Department of Transportation's Division of Aeronautics and supports light aircraft, agricultural aviation and local flight training.
Because the airport has no scheduled airline terminal, access is typically by private vehicle or a rental car arranged in advance, often from Fremont about 12 miles to the southeast. Omaha's Eppley Airfield is the nearest commercial passenger airport, roughly an hour's drive away.
