About Santa Maria Public Airport
Santa Maria Public Airport serves Santa Maria, the Santa Maria Valley and California's Central Coast. The site began as the Santa Maria Army Air Field during World War II and was later transferred to the Santa Maria Public Airport District, which has operated the facility since 1964. A new passenger terminal opened in 1970.
Located about 3 miles south of downtown Santa Maria, the airport supports general aviation, business aviation and scheduled passenger flights. Allegiant Air has offered nonstop service to Las Vegas since 2006, and American Eagle began daily service to Phoenix in October 2025, connecting travelers to onward destinations.
The airport has two runways, a single passenger terminal and general aviation facilities. Travelers can reach the city and nearby coastal and wine-country destinations by private transfer, taxi, rideshare, rental car or personal vehicle.
On-site conveniences include a terminal restaurant, free Wi-Fi, free parking, rental car service and the Santa Maria Museum of Flight, making the airport a practical gateway for the Central Coast.
