San Luis County Regional Airport is the main commercial airport serving San Luis Obispo and the Central Coast of California. The airfield opened in 1940 and later served as a military site before developing into the regional gateway it is today.
Located about 5 km (3 miles) south of downtown San Luis Obispo, the airport is served by Alaska Airlines, American Airlines and United Airlines, providing domestic connections through West Coast and other U.S. hubs. A modern single terminal building opened in November 2017, bringing updated check-in, screening and gate areas to passengers.
