About Salluit Airport
Salluit Airport is the only air link serving Salluit, a remote Inuit community on Sugluk Inlet in Nunavik, northern Quebec, close to Hudson Strait. Because the village has no road access, the airport is essential for passenger travel, cargo and medical transport, and is operated on behalf of the Quebec Ministry of Transport by the Kativik Regional Government.
The airport has a single gravel runway of about 1,070 metres and one compact terminal building. Air Inuit provides scheduled service to Salluit, using Twin Otter and Dash 8 aircraft to connect the community with the Nunavik regional hub of Kuujjuaq and with Montreal.
Located around three kilometres from the village centre, the airport is reached by local vehicle or taxi, with snowmobiles and ATVs commonly used during winter and summer. A renewed terminal completed in 2022 offers heated passenger space designed for the Arctic climate.
With basic but essential facilities including a waiting area, restrooms, baggage handling and cargo services, the airport functions as a vital gateway for residents and visitors travelling in this part of Nunavik.
