About Sacramento Executive Airport
Sacramento Executive Airport is a general aviation airport serving Sacramento and the surrounding region. Operated by the Sacramento County Department of Airports, it functions as Northern California's primary general aviation gateway for private, charter and business aircraft.
The airport opened in 1930 as Sutterville Aerodrome and was later renamed Sacramento Municipal Airport. After commercial airline operations moved to the newly opened Sacramento Metropolitan Airport in 1967, the facility became Sacramento Executive Airport and has since focused on general aviation services.
Located about three miles (5 km) south of downtown Sacramento, the airport is roughly 10 minutes from the city centre by road. Its facilities include an FAA control tower, instrument approaches, three paved runways, two of which are lighted, a helipad, hangars and tie-down space.
Passengers and pilots can use on-site FBO services, a terminal building with pilot amenities, flight training, charters, aircraft services and car rental. Road links along Freeport Boulevard provide convenient access to downtown, Old Sacramento, the State Capitol and other nearby destinations.
