About Roswell Air Center
Roswell Air Center is the primary commercial airport serving Roswell and southeastern New Mexico. The site opened in 1941 as Roswell Army Airfield and later served as Walker Air Force Base before being transferred to the City of Roswell in 1967 and reopened as a civilian aviation center.
Today the airport is known for its large airfield, including a 13,000-foot main runway, and for aircraft storage, maintenance, painting and dismantling operations alongside scheduled passenger service. A single passenger terminal handles daily flights to Dallas/Fort Worth and Denver.
Located about five miles south of downtown Roswell, the airport is reached by road via US Highway 285 and other local routes. Travelers can continue into the city by taxi, rental car, rideshare, private transfer or shuttle.
With a compact terminal, dining options, car rental services and onward connections, Roswell Air Center serves as a practical gateway for visitors exploring Roswell and the surrounding region.
