Roseau Municipal Airport (ROX)

Roseau Municipal Airport/Rudy Billberg Field is a city-owned general aviation airport serving Roseau and Roseau County in northwestern Minnesota. The airfield was activated at its present site in September 1962 and is named for Roseau native and aviation pioneer Rudy Billberg, a former Northwest Airlines captain and Minnesota Aviation Hall of Fame inductee. The airport sits about two miles east of downtown Roseau and roughly ten miles south of the Canadian border, on Minnesota Trunk Highway 11. It operates two runways: a 4,400-foot paved, lighted main runway and a turf crosswind runway that is closed during the winter months. Facilities include a flight planning and arrival/departure building with restrooms, a kitchenette and pilot briefing areas, along with heated and non-heated hangars, tie-downs, block-heater outlets and 24-hour self-service fuel. The airport supports private and corporate aviation, air ambulance flights and charter operations, including travel for local employers such as Polaris Industries. With no scheduled airline service, the airport functions mainly as a general aviation gateway for business, recreation and medical travel. Its location offers quick access to downtown Roseau and convenient onward connections toward Warroad, Lake of the Woods and other destinations in northwestern Minnesota.
