About Roscommon County–Blodgett Memorial Airport
Roscommon County–Blodgett Memorial Airport is a county-owned, public-use general aviation airport serving Houghton Lake and Roscommon County in northern Michigan. The field opened in August 1945 and was known as Roscommon County Airport until 2005, when it was renamed to honor former manager Terry Blodgett and his father Francis Blodgett.
The airport covers about 419 acres and operates two runways: a 4,000-foot asphalt runway (9/27) and a 2,200-foot turf runway (18/36). It does not have scheduled commercial airline service; instead, it supports private, charter, and recreational flying, with services coordinated through the on-site fixed-base operator.
Located about five miles (8 km) northeast of Houghton Lake's central business district, the airport is convenient for pilots and travelers heading to Houghton Lake, Higgins Lake, Roscommon, Grayling, and the surrounding lake and forest recreation areas. Ground access is available by private vehicle, rental car, taxi, or pre-arranged transfer.
Passenger amenities are compact and aviation-focused, including fuel sales, a pilot lounge, restrooms, tiedowns, and parking. For dining, lodging, and other services, visitors continue a short drive into Houghton Lake and nearby communities.
