Rosario Seaplane Base (RSJ) is a public-use seaplane base in Cascade Bay on the eastern shore of Orcas Island in Washington's San Juan Islands. Owned by Rosario Resort, it provides recreational and emergency seaplane access to the eastern portion of the island and serves as a convenient gateway for travelers heading to the resort and nearby communities. The base opened in January 1948 and operates two water landing areas rather than conventional runways. It has no control tower and no published instrument procedures, with nearby Orcas Island Airport located about four nautical miles to the northwest. Located adjacent to the community of Rosario, the seaplane base is roughly seven miles by road from Eastsound, the main village on Orcas Island. Onward travel is typically arranged by taxi, pre-booked transfer, shuttle, or private vehicle, since scheduled public transport is not available directly at the dock. Despite its compact scale, the base gives visitors direct waterfront access to Rosario Resort and a quiet alternative entry point to the San Juan Islands for private, charter, and resort-related seaplane flights.
