About Rocky Mount–Wilson Regional Airport
Rocky Mount–Wilson Regional Airport is a public general aviation airport serving Rocky Mount, Wilson, and the surrounding counties of eastern North Carolina. Opened in 1969 after the state purchased the property in 1964, it consolidated aviation activity for the City of Rocky Mount, the City of Wilson, and Nash, Edgecombe, and Wilson counties under the Rocky Mount–Wilson Regional Airport Authority.
Located along NC Highway 97 near I-95, roughly 7 miles (11 km) southwest of central Rocky Mount and about 10 miles north of Wilson, the airport features a 7,099-foot asphalt runway and a general aviation terminal. Scheduled airline service ended in 2001 after Piedmont and US Airways Express operations, and the airport now focuses on general aviation, corporate, and charter traffic.
The airport is owned and operated by the seven-member Rocky Mount–Wilson Regional Airport Authority and is supported by five local government sponsors. Its fixed-base operator, AirCare, provides aircraft sales, maintenance, avionics, fueling, and support services.
Passenger facilities include a pilot lounge, passenger terminal lounge, restrooms, Wi-Fi, aircraft fueling, and hangar space.
