About Roche Harbor Airport
Roche Harbor Airport is a small seaplane gateway located at Roche Harbor Marina on the northwest side of San Juan Island, Washington. Known by the IATA code RCE, it serves Roche Harbor Resort and the surrounding San Juan Islands, with scheduled and charter seaplane connections to other Puget Sound and island destinations.
The facility operates as a public-use seaplane base rather than a conventional airport with terminals. It has two water runways: a northeast–southwest waterway of about 5,000 feet and a northwest–southeast waterway of about 2,500 feet. Seaplanes dock directly at the marina, placing arriving passengers within walking distance of the resort and village.
Roche Harbor is about 8 miles (13 km) from Friday Harbor, the main town on San Juan Island, and is reached by road in roughly 15–20 minutes. Ground transport from the dock includes taxis, pre-arranged transfers, shuttles, rental cars and group vehicles.
With limited airport infrastructure but strong resort and marina amenities, Roche Harbor Airport functions as a convenient arrival point for visitors heading to Roche Harbor Resort, Friday Harbor, and outdoor destinations across San Juan Island.
