About Robins Air Force Base
Robins Air Force Base is a United States Air Force installation located in Houston County, Georgia, just east of Warner Robins and roughly 15 miles south of Macon. Construction of the Georgia Air Depot began in September 1941, and the base was later named for Brigadier General Augustine Warner Robins. Today it serves as a major center for Air Force sustainment and logistics in Middle Georgia.
The installation is home to the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex and the 78th Air Base Wing, which provides support services for base operations. The base performs depot-level maintenance on aircraft such as the C-5 Galaxy, C-130 Hercules, and F-15 Eagle, and its 12,000-foot runway is among the longest in Georgia.
Robins AFB operates primarily as a military airfield rather than a commercial passenger airport. Travelers using private or general aviation can access the airfield by prior arrangement, while scheduled airline service is available nearby at Middle Georgia Regional Airport in Macon and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
