Robert Atty Bessing Airport (LNU) is a regional airport serving Malinau, the capital of Malinau Regency in North Kalimantan, Indonesia. It connects the town and the surrounding interior with domestic destinations and supports access to one of the most remote parts of Indonesian Borneo. The airport began as a small pioneer airstrip and was later upgraded to support more comfortable regional travel. Its current terminal was built between 2009 and 2010 and inaugurated in 2012, and the runway measures approximately 1,450 metres, suitable for ATR-type regional aircraft. Located about 2 km from the centre of Malinau, the airport is reached by road and offers a short journey into town by taxi, private transfer or rental car. Scheduled and pioneer flights link Malinau with hubs such as Balikpapan and Tarakan, from where travellers can continue to other destinations in Indonesia. The compact terminal provides essential passenger facilities, including a waiting area, a canteen, a prayer room and retail services, making it a practical gateway to Malinau and the Kayan Mentarang National Park area.
