About Roben-Hood Airport

Roben-Hood Airport is a public general aviation airport serving Big Rapids and Michigan's Mecosta County. Owned by the City of Big Rapids and formerly known as Mecosta County Airport, the facility was officially named Roben-Hood in 1961 in honor of Major Douglas Bennett Roben and Lieutenant Daniel George Hood, two Big Rapids servicemen who died in World War I.

Located about 2 miles (3.2 km) northwest of the central business district, the airport supports private, business, and recreational flying rather than scheduled commercial airline service. Its current terminal building was completed in 2002, and the field includes two asphalt runways, 10/28 and 14/32.

The airport is reached from 18 Mile Road, close to Business US-131, and offers car rental, courtesy vehicles, and pre-arranged private transfers for travel into downtown Big Rapids, Ferris State University, and the surrounding West Michigan lakes region.

A fixed-base operator provides fuel, aircraft maintenance, hangar space, tiedowns, and courtesy transportation, while the terminal building includes a pilot lounge, restrooms, Wi-Fi, and conference rooms. These services make the airport a practical entry point for general aviation visitors to the area.
