Located about five miles southeast of downtown Richmond, the airport supports private, business and corporate flights and provides a convenient entry point for visitors traveling to the area.
The airport opened its original terminal building in 1945 and supported early airline flights from the late 1940s until scheduled service ended in the 1960s. Today it functions primarily as a general aviation facility with two asphalt runways, aircraft parking, hangars and aviation fuel services.
The airport is reached by car via State Road 227 South. Ground transportation options include rental cars, courtesy cars for pilots, taxis and pre-arranged private or group transfers, making it straightforward to continue to Richmond, Wayne County and nearby western Ohio destinations.
A replacement terminal building is planned, while current amenities include a pilot lounge, free Wi-Fi, flight planning resources, a conference room and aircraft support services.
