About Richland Airport
Richland Airport is a public-use general aviation airport located about two miles (3 km) northwest of downtown Richland in Benton County, Washington. It serves private pilots, charter operations, and regional business aviation for Richland and the surrounding Tri-Cities communities of Kennewick and Pasco.
The airfield was originally constructed in 1943 as Atomic Energy Field for personnel connected with the Hanford Site. The Port of Benton acquired the airport in December 1961 and opened it for public use, and the airport has since developed into a general aviation facility with two asphalt runways, helipads, and hangar and business-park areas.
Passenger and pilot services are centered on the Sundance Aviation fixed-base operator, which provides fuel, aircraft parking and tie-downs, flight training, aircraft rental, and maintenance, along with a lounge and terminal facilities.
The airport is reached from Highway 240 and local roads, putting downtown Richland only a few minutes away. Scheduled commercial airline flights for the region operate from Tri-Cities Airport (PSC) in nearby Pasco, about 15 km from Richland.
