Reid–Hillview Airport of Santa Clara County is a general aviation airport serving San Jose and the wider Silicon Valley region. It operates primarily as a reliever for general aviation traffic in the Santa Clara County area and has no scheduled airline service.
Ground was broken for the airport in 1937, and the site opened in 1939 as Reid’s Hillview Airport before Santa Clara County purchased it in 1961. A second runway was added in 1965 and the control tower opened in October 1967. San Jose State University’s aviation program relocated to the airport in 2010.
Located about four miles southeast of downtown San Jose, the airport is reached by local roads and is within roughly three-quarters of a mile of a major VTA bus stop. Taxis, ridesharing and private ground transportation provide onward connections to San Jose, Santa Clara and other Bay Area destinations.
