About Redcliffe Airport
Redcliffe Airport is a small domestic airport on Ambae (Aoba) Island in Vanuatu's Penama Province. It is one of three local airstrips serving the island and mainly provides air access for communities in southern Ambae.
The airport has a single grass runway of about 660 metres, suited to small aircraft, and sits at a low elevation near Loone on South Ambae. It is secondary to Bauerfield International Airport in Port Vila, which handles Vanuatu's international traffic.
Road access links the airstrip to villages around Ambae, including nearby communities and the provincial centre at Saratamata. Domestic flights also connect the island with other parts of Vanuatu for onward travel.
Facilities are simple, with a small waiting area and limited passenger services, so travelers are advised to plan for a basic island airfield experience. The airport remains an important local link for residents and visitors moving around Ambae.
