About Raroia Airport
Raroia Airport is a small domestic airfield serving the atoll of Raroia in the Tuamotu Archipelago of French Polynesia. Opened in 2006, it gives the atoll a regular air link to Tahiti and other parts of the Tuamotus through Air Tahiti flights.
The airport sits close to the main settlement of Garumaoa and the lagoon, with a single compact terminal and a roughly 1,180-metre asphalt runway. Because the atoll is remote, the airport plays an important role for residents, cargo deliveries and medical evacuations as well as for visitors.
There are no public buses or regular taxis at the airport. Most travelers continue to guesthouses and lagoon-side accommodations with transfers arranged in advance by their hosts, usually a short drive of about five to ten minutes.
Passenger facilities are minimal, reflecting the airport's remote location. The open-air terminal provides basic waiting areas and toilets, but there are no shops, cafés, ATMs or public Wi-Fi, so travelers should bring water and essentials with them.
