About Rapid City Regional Airport
Rapid City Regional Airport is the main commercial airport serving Rapid City and western South Dakota, and a key gateway to the Black Hills region. The terminal opened in 1989 and is currently being expanded to add gates, improve the security checkpoint, and modernize ticketing and baggage areas.
Located about 9 miles southeast of downtown Rapid City, the airport provides domestic connections through Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and Sun Country. It serves leisure travelers heading to Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, and Badlands National Park, as well as business and regional travelers.
The airport is connected to Rapid City and the surrounding area by taxi, rideshare, shuttle services, hotel shuttles, rental cars, and motorcycle rentals, with ground transportation pickup areas just outside the terminal.
Passenger facilities include a restaurant and bar on the second level before and after security, a gift shop, free Wi-Fi, charging points, and a green roof patio with views of the Black Hills.
