About Rampart Airport

Rampart Airport is a state-owned, public-use airport serving Rampart, a small community on the south bank of the Yukon River in Interior Alaska. The airfield was activated in 1949 and remains an important year-round link for this remote part of the Yukon-Koyukuk region.

The airport sits about 2 km (1 mile) east of the village centre and operates a single gravel runway, 11/29, measuring roughly 1,073 metres (3,520 ft) long. It has no control tower and is typically unattended, handling small aircraft, general aviation and scheduled passenger flights to and from Fairbanks.

Rampart lies approximately 160 km (100 miles) northwest of Fairbanks, the regional transport hub. Scheduled Essential Air Service flights connect the village with Fairbanks, while charter aircraft and seasonal road access provide additional travel options.

Because the airport has limited facilities and no on-site fuel or maintenance services, visitors should confirm flight details and arrange ground or river transport before arrival. For travelers heading to the Yukon River, nearby villages or Fairbanks, planning ahead helps keep the journey straightforward.
