About Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport

Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport is a long-established international gateway serving Luanda, Angola. Opened in 1954, it is located in the southern part of the city and for decades served as Angola's main airport for domestic and international flights. The airport has two asphalt runways and a passenger terminal complex that has historically separated international and domestic operations.

The airport sits about 4 km from central Luanda, close to the city's business and government districts. Its central location makes transfers to hotels and meeting venues short by distance, although travel times can vary significantly depending on Luanda traffic.

Since the opening of the newer Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport, most scheduled domestic and international airline operations have been transferred away from LAD. Quatro de Fevereiro remains operational for cargo, general aviation and some international services, while continuing to function as a secondary airport for the capital region.

Passenger facilities include check-in areas, security screening, duty-free and local craft shops, restaurants and cafés, lounges, and onward transport options such as taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and car rental.

Terminals

Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport has historically used two passenger terminal areas: an international terminal and a domestic terminal (TVD). Most scheduled passenger traffic has now moved to the new Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport, and LAD primarily handles remaining international services, cargo and non-commercial operations.
