About Quaqtaq Airport
Quaqtaq Airport is a small regional airport serving Quaqtaq, an Inuit community on the coast of Ungava Bay in Nunavik, northern Quebec. It provides essential passenger and cargo connections for this remote fly-in community and links Quaqtaq with other Nunavik villages through scheduled Air Inuit flights.
Located about 1.3 km, or less than a mile, from the village centre, the airport has a single gravel runway and a compact passenger terminal. The current terminal was inaugurated in 2014 following a major upgrade program that included runway resurfacing, an expanded terminal building and improved access control.
The airport is owned by Transports Québec and operated by the Kativik Regional Government. Because Quaqtaq has no road connection to southern Quebec, the airport is the community's main gateway for passengers, mail and goods throughout the year.
For visitors, the airport offers a simple arrival experience with a short transfer to the village centre, where basic services such as food, medical aid and accommodation are available nearby.
