About Purdue University Airport
Purdue University Airport is a university-owned public-use airport serving West Lafayette, Lafayette and the Purdue University campus in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. Opened in 1930, it was one of the first university-owned airports in the United States and has long supported Purdue's aviation education, research and flight training programs.
The airport is about 2 nautical miles, or roughly 4 km, southwest of downtown Lafayette. It primarily handles general aviation and flight training traffic, and in August 2025 it began scheduled commercial service when United Express, operated by SkyWest, launched flights between LAF and Chicago O'Hare International Airport.
Passenger operations are centered in the Amelia Earhart Terminal, named for the aviator associated with Purdue during the 1930s. The terminal includes ticketing, passenger screening, baggage claim and a waiting area, with short-term parking and curbside access nearby.
