About Punta Gorda Airport
Punta Gorda Airport is the main commercial airport serving Punta Gorda and Charlotte County on Florida's southwest Gulf Coast. It began as a World War II training field, was rebuilt after Hurricane Charley in 2004, and has since grown into a busy low-cost leisure gateway used primarily by Allegiant Air and seasonal Sun Country flights.
The airport operates a single passenger terminal, the Bailey Terminal, which opened in 2007 and has expanded to accommodate growing traffic with additional departure gates, a redesigned TSA checkpoint and new concessions. A separate PGD Air Center serves general aviation, private aircraft and charter operations.
PGD is located off Interstate 75, about 3 miles southeast of downtown Punta Gorda and within easy reach of Port Charlotte, Charlotte Harbor and Gulf Coast beaches. Travelers continue by rental car, taxi, rideshare, private transfer or shuttle.
