About Pangkor Airport
Pangkor Airport is a small island airfield serving Pulau Pangkor, a popular beach destination off the coast of Perak in northwestern Malaysia. Opened in 1993 as a short take-off and landing (STOL) airport, it was designed to accommodate light aircraft carrying visitors to the island.
Located on the western side of the island, the airport sits roughly 5 km from Pangkor Town, the island's main settlement and ferry gateway. Its single runway and compact terminal are sized for small aircraft rather than large commercial jets, keeping the airport's footprint modest and close to the coastline.
Scheduled air services to the island have been intermittent. Operations were suspended in early 2014, and later attempts to restore regular flights saw only limited service before being paused again; most travelers therefore reach Pulau Pangkor by ferry from Lumut on the mainland.
Taxis and private transfers connect the airport with island hotels, beaches and Pangkor Town, while the jetty links passengers to Lumut for onward road and rail travel across Perak.
