About Pryor Field Regional Airport

Pryor Field Regional Airport is a public-use general aviation airport serving Decatur, Athens and the North Alabama region, including nearby Huntsville and Madison in the Tennessee Valley. Positioned as the Gateway to North Alabama, it primarily supports general aviation, business and corporate aircraft rather than scheduled airline flights.

The airfield has its roots in the 1940s, when the site served as a World War II flight training base. A modern 7,200-square-foot terminal was completed in 2008 and opened in early 2009, replacing the original 1940s-era building, and the main runway was extended to handle larger corporate jets.

Located about three miles northeast of downtown Decatur off U.S. Highway 31, between Athens and Decatur and close to the I-65/I-565 interchange, the airport offers convenient road connections across Morgan and Limestone counties. Its single runway, 18/36, is 6,107 feet long, and a multi-phase expansion has added taxiways and cargo ramp space for future growth.

Pryor Flight Center operates as the airport's exclusive FBO, providing fueling, hangar space, pilot and passenger lounges, a conference room, Wi-Fi, showers, and rental cars for onward travel. The airport's compact scale and FBO services make it a practical base for corporate, private and flight-training traffic in North Alabama.
