Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport (HAH)

Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport is the main international airport serving Moroni and the Union of the Comoros, and the only airport in the country with regular international flights. It is located at Hahaya on Grande Comore, about 20 km north of the capital, and is managed by Aéroports Des Comores (ADC).

Opened in 1966 and originally known as Hahaya airport, the facility was renamed in honour of Prince Said Ibrahim, the son of a former Grand Comore sultan. The runway was later extended to 2,900 metres and a new terminal was completed in 2007, improving capacity for both inter-island and international services.

The airport operates separate passenger terminals for domestic and international traffic together with a small cargo terminal. Domestic flights connect Grande Comore with Anjouan and Mohéli and nearby Mayotte, while international services link Moroni with destinations across the Indian Ocean region and beyond, including Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar, Réunion, the Seychelles and South Africa.

From the airport, taxis and pre-arranged transfers provide the main connection to central Moroni, with the drive normally taking around 30 minutes depending on traffic. Basic passenger facilities and onward travel options make it the natural entry point for visitors arriving in the Comoros.
