Prince Abdulmohsen Bin Abdulaziz International Airport serves Yanbu, a major Red Sea port and industrial centre in the Medina Province of western Saudi Arabia. It connects the city and surrounding region to domestic destinations such as Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, as well as international services including Cairo.
The airport was expanded in 2009 to handle international flights, with newly enlarged arrival and departure areas and air bridges linking passengers directly to aircraft, a first for Saudi Arabia's regional airports. The expansion project was signed in 2006 and the upgraded airport was officially opened in July 2009.
The terminal covers approximately 8,500 square metres and is designed to process up to 500 passengers per hour. Located roughly seven to eight kilometres from Yanbu city centre and about 25 kilometres from Yanbu Industrial City, it is reached mainly by taxi, private transfer or rental car, as there is no public transport service directly from the airport.
Passenger facilities include cafés, shops, the airside Hayyak Lounge, prayer areas, free Wi-Fi and car rental counters. With its compact single-terminal layout and onward connections to the city, industrial zone and Red Sea coastal areas, the airport provides a convenient gateway for business and leisure travellers to the region.
